ACCESS AUTISM

'From the transition to the nursery setting until our son transitioned to primary school, Sian was there supporting us as a family through every step.  Sian is passionate about the education and wellbeing of children with disabilities and her passion is apparent in every interaction. She always puts the needs of the child first and will look creatively at any difficulties a child might be having and consider the child's perspective,  Sian is also excellent at thinking about where the child is at in their development and setting goals which are within the child's reach so they can achieve and build confidence - this greatly helped our son  in building his independence with toileting and his tolerance for eating with other children in the nursery setting.  The process of applying for an EHCP took place whilst our son was at nursery. This is a stressful process but we cannot imagine how much harder it would have been without Sian.  She understood the process and explained each step to us parents.  Sian never lost sight of the child at the centre of the process and ensured nobody else did either . Her assessments focused on our son's skills and how they could be used to support him in his learning. We feel very fortunate that our son had such a great start to his educational experience. He is a happy and confident little boy who loves going to school and we think this is a reflection of Sian's skill and passion as an educator.'                                                                                                                    A.S (parent)

'Sian is remarkably  passionate about her work, she is utterly devoted and focused on helping children and their families to succeed. It was a daunting time when it came to filling out the paper work for my son's Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). My family and I were blown away by the support we received from Sian and the understanding and professionalism she has on the EHCP process.  Alongside Sian's professionalism, she has a very welcoming approach and is always bright and personable. 'I first met Sian when my son was accepted for a place at a specialist ASD pre-school base. Sian has a wealth of knowledge and is very passionate about the children she works with and making a difference to their lives.  Sian helped my son develop further through setting small targets and using Intensive Interaction.  This built up my son's confidence massively and allowed him to transition smoothly into primary school. Sian supported and guided my family the whole time, particularly through the EHCP process, which would have otherwise been somewhat stressful.
